AmpKit - Guitar amps & pedals App Reviews

Only works for a while

Worked great for a few days. Even went and bought the Peavy link kit. Hooked it all up, Used it once. Sound was ok but then I shut it off and the next time I went to use it the app would open and then shut down right away. Gonna delete and try a reload. Oh the link kit seems a little cheap. Not impressed so far. Ive got other Peavey gear that Ive packed up and down the road for years and they are tough. Well see.

Sounds awesome

I got the AmpkitLink and this with the new Summer 11 pack and love it. The sound is very complex, all the way from cleans to high gain leads. I will definitely check out some more of the gear they have over time. The only thing I wish is that it would accept clipboard content to and from GarageBand, but half of that issue is probably with Apple.

Excellent

This app is wonderful. I am using it on my ipad and the Apogee Jam interface (great device by the way). The guitar sounds are really great. Instead of using my Marshall amp I spend much more time on this app: great variety of sounds (various amps and pedals) and the ability to record makes it fun to use. I only wish we could record multiple tracks. What I do is that a copy-paste my tracks into Grageband. The price of the app is relatively high (I purchased the clean kit and the power kit for 20$ each), but I do not regret it. I highly recommend. Guitar sounds better than with Garageband. Presets are good. You can play along with backing tracks. By the way avoid the irig device it is a piece of crap.

Almost perfect

This ap is amazing. As a very experienced guitarist, from what i can see the tones are very accurate and very high quality. I love the wireless upload/download feature and the ability to customize every aspect of the rig, all the way down to microphone type and placement. This ap would receive a full 5 stars, except i am experiencing a feedback problem whenever my input is greater than a certain volume (which is really not very loud at all and im sure is not intentional). I even read an online review from a web magazine that states the same problem. It gets pretty annoying when it interrupts your recording but as soon as this problem is fixed, 5 stars.

Best guitar app

I have tried them all and peavey nailed it!

This is amazing

The quality of the interface, the amount of customization you can do, its rediculess. Being post surgery, i have the option to play guitar without straining to the music room. Being very portable, i really do recommend it to anyone who plays guitar, its well worth it!

My favorite amp app

First of all a word about gear: if you expect sound from the 1/8 headphone jack adapter to be as good as one going through the 30 pin digital, you are setting yourself up for disappointment and frustration. Trust me, you can hear and feel the price difference. I’m a bass player and have an iRig and an iRiffport. Actually, no, I just gave away my irig to a friend. Among Amplitube, Pocket GK, Mobile POD, Ampkit is my favorite. You get tons of tones, useful tools like a tuner and metronome, a simple recording interface, and my favorite: background audio/ ios multitasking. This basically enables you to dial in your tone, hit the home button and run a sheet music app like forScore or iRealb while still hearing yourself. Amplitube as a better 16 track recording interface but only works with the irig. And yes, Ampkit works with the iRiffport. The Trace Elliot sounds really good, but my big fingers have a hard time using the tiny 12 band EQ buttons!

Great App & fun

This is the first music app that that I used where I spent 3 or 4 hours playing with it right from the start. The free app has great amps & pedals but I quickly ended up purchasing most of the gear available as bundles. They need a "the remainder of the gear bundle". Sounds way better through headphones or a speaker system. The iPad tiny speakers never seem to do justice to good sound. I really like the ability to record a riff and then play it through the different setups to fine tune the sound I am seeking. It definitely can get expensive buying all the gear but for a hardcore guitar player (loves the guitar) it works out to like buying one decent pedal. Again just the free app has great amps and pedals so you cant lose by just trying it out. I used an Apogee Jam for my guitar input

Well designed app that sounds excellent

App is intuitive, looks good and is fast. There is no latency. The free effects are useful and sound really good. I bought a few pedals and amps through the in-app store and they sound really good too. I like the reamp feature, very useful to test different setups. The multitasking feature allows you to use other apps (a tablature app for instance) while it keeps functioning. As far as hardware goes, I started with the Peavey Ampkit Link and I was not impressed. It is very noisy even with the noise gate pedal On. Now I have The Apogee Jam (available on the Apple Store) and it sounds so much better, it does not even compare.

Works well with Traveler Guitar MI-10 Mobile Interface

My need for this app is simple - practicing in my hotel room while on the road for my day job. Ampkit is perfect for this when combined with my Traveler Guitar Speedster and the TG MI-10 Mobile Interface. The sound quality is adequate, but more important for me are the integrated tuner and metronome, and multitasking. I had previously tried the Line 6 app and interface but it lacks multitasking, a real show stopper. Ampkit plays nice with other apps like ForScore.

Audiobus!!!!

Please add AUDIOBUS support. Without it its just a toy, not a production tool. I wanna be able record to Auria or Cubasis.... PLEASE!!!!!!

Best amp app out there

I tried many different amp apps and the tones I get from AmpKit are by far the best. I couldnt be happier with this app. Keep up the great work guys!

Great practise amp

Love it, no need to lug the full amp around

Awsome app

I love this ap

Dynamite App!

Really nice hi gain stuff. Like the recording features. Worth every penny.

Ampkit

It has allowed me to practice with different rhythms the you gave me, thru guitar and drums.

Great amp simulations

Perfect for riffing on the go :)

WOW!!!

I simply LOVE this app and have amazing guitar tone with it. Never would i thought this quality of tone would be possible on an iPhone... Great product at a great price. Strongly recommend!

Great sound, very dynamic, universal app!

I use Ampkit a lot since I live in an apartment and cant play out loud. My guitars have active pickups and the distortion that I get from this app rocks! This app is universal, meaning that you buy once and you can install on any other iOS device that is linked to your apple account. I recommend this app to beginner or experienced guitarist that want to find their sound and that want mobility. The fact that you can plug the output of the app into a mixer easily without microphones, make its very versatile.

Awesome guitar app!

1-Portabity, bring this anywhere along with your guitar and BAM! Instant jamming! 2-Recording any ideas instantly on-the-fly makes this app worth while! 3-Jam along with favourite tunes anywhere you go, with the most incredible sound customization! Peavey already makes the loudest, best sounding amps on the globe! No wonder this app is sooo amazing!
